Set in the 1950s, Searching for Grace Kelly is Michael Callahan's beautiful debut novel. The story follows three small-town girls with big-city dreams. The girls, Laura, Dolly, and Vivian all call New York City's glamorous Barbizon Hotel home.
Laura is a patrician beauty from Smith who is in New York to work at Mademoiselle for the summer. Her roommate, Dolly, is a hopeless romantic from a working-class town upstate and is at tending secretarial school. Their third is Vivian, a brash British bombshell, who ignores the hotel's rules. Their coming-of-age story takes them from penthouse apartments on Park Avenue to the Beat scene in Greenwich Village to the Steel Pier of Atlantic City. And into the arms of very different men who will forever change their lives.
